In addition to the Antelope House and the Director’s Villa, the South America House is one of the oldest buildings from the time the zoo was founded and is an indispensable and formative component of the overall ensemble. The tree-lined building is modelled after a Russian Orthodox church.

ZOOQUARIUMDESIGN carries out the structural restoration of the listed South America House, which was used as a bird house. In the future, it should be revived and become home to various South American animal species. Completely gutted and refurbished, a planted free-flight and running area is to be created in the centre – from the basement footing to the ETFE-foil roof.
