The Opel Zoo is planning to redesign the old giraffe enclosure and the existing enclosures for eland, Prince Alfred’s deer and deer goat antelopes into a modern and contemporary Asian enclosure. As part of the project, a warm house for rhinoceroses and black-backed tapirs, which can be entered by visitors, and a show enclosure for siamangs are planned. The new kiosk will have a viewing terrace overlooking the rhino house.

ZOOQUARIUMDESIGN took part in the limited competition. The warm house with different access levels was integrated into the extreme slope. A simple and sustainable building in its function and design was developed for sustainability in operation and management. Different and exciting outdoor enclosures were also designed. Due to the topographically difficult access situation, the visitor paths were routed through the enclosures on different levels to guarantee a natural experience.
